Mrs. Mackey's Classroom Happenings

 Mackey's Classroom Happenings

GETTING TO KNOW YOU- We have already begun many fun and exciting things the first few weeks of school. We started with getting to know each other in our All About Me News Reports. Students will now  have a place to showcase their individual work of choice throughout the year.

JOBS- Our classroom jobs were chosen together and established to create an environment of community. Each week students will rotate their jobs in order to the learn responsibilities and rules of both our classroom as well as our school.

CENTERS-I'm sure many of our students will tell you that centers is their favorite part of the day. This is great because centers are not only fun, but educational and enriching. We rotate among 12 Literacy and 12 Math Centers throughout the week. Our centers range from working online with their textbook to poetry pizza pans. Students truly are engaged and learning at centers... and having fun at the same time!

NOTEBOOKS- We are keeping interactive notebooks this year for Math, Reading & Writing, and Science & Social Studies. These notebook are filled with information, foldables and activities we are working on in class. They are a great resource in studying for a test and very helpful when students need to recall information. Make sure to ask to see these notebooks at Open House.

Class Library- Over the years I have collected many books and begun a wonderful class library. Students are able to choose books by genre and focus on their "just right" book when reading independently or in a group.
